In August 2015, Indonesian-length animated film, Battle of Surabaya, will be released. Animated film was budgeted at USD 15 billion is made by 80 to 100 local animators under the auspices of the MSV Pictures Animation Studio in Yogyakarta with a processing time span of three years. As per the title, Battle of Surabaya has a background story of the war between Indonesia against the Netherlands in November 1945.
The main plot is a fictional story with the figure of Moses. He is a boy who worked as a shoeshine once courier confidential letter to the freedom fighters. "This film tells how the life of Moses beat his ego so that he can be a hero to himself," said Erika Djana Rizanti, Chief of Public Relations MSV Pictures Animation Studio, during a press conference at City Kasablanca on Thursday last week.
MSV Pictures, which is affiliated with STMIK AMIKOM Yogyakarta, feel confident to make animated films without involving foreign animators with typical Indonesian story, though aware that the production of animated films that require great effort and funds are not small. Because, according to Erika, Battle of Surabaya intended by Prof. M Suyanto, executive producer and founder MSV Pictures STMIK AMIKOM, to teach the love of the nation's history of animation.
"For this initial work we do not want heroics. Like the saying, we're waving called attention to young people. That's why we form as an animated presentation. That Indonesia could be and not to be outdone," said Erika. He also revealed that the MSV Pictures are also currently working on a 3D animation film projects in addition to the manufacture of the Battle of Surabaya.
Before the Battle of Surabaya films by director Aryanto Yuniawan aired in August 2015, the official trailer will be played exclusively in the XXI Short Film Festival in March 2015. In the third short film festival, there will also be a presentation and discussion of the film-makers Battle of Surabaya to the public .
